Our first Cherry Pepper (Capsicum frutescens) crop was planted between mid September and mid October 2021. 4 hectares yielded 100t net destined for export to Europe. Cherry Peppers are high in vitamins A and C, potassium, folic acid, and fiber. Commonly used fresh or dried, these vibrant peppers are often stuffed and served as appetizers. Originating in Mexico, Central and South America, peppers of all varieties have been cultivated since ancient times. They were introduced to Europe and Asia by Spanish and Portuguese explorers as early as the 16th Century!
We planted mangetout (Pisum sativum var. saccharatum) in week 7 of 2022 and expect the crop to yield 8t export quality peas destined for the UK market. Mangetout is French for "eat all", an apt name for this nutritious vegetable. 1 cup of mangetout contains 128% of your daily Vitamin C and 50% of your Vitamin K requirements. Legumes are nitrogen replacers meaning this crop looks after our soil.
This vine growing fruit (bet you thought it was a vegetable!) is low in calories and high in fibre, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Butternut squash (Cucurbita moschata) is part of the same family as pumpkin and has a sweet, nutty flavour. Native to Mexico and Central America, this plant grows well in the Southern Hemisphere as it requires a fair amount of hot weather.
